Electromagnetic Clutch and Brake Solutions for the Gas & Battery Turf Care Market

Ogura Industrial has created a new brochure to highlight the wide variety of solutions provided in the turf care market, for both gas and battery powered equipment. As a dominant player in the industry, we strive to offer solutions for equipment used today as well as designs anticipated for the future.

On gas- and diesel-powered equipment, PTO clutch brakes are the dominant solution for controlling motion and reliably transmitting torque to the deck blades. They serve as a critical safety component to slow the cutting blades when the clutch disengages. For applications not requiring a brake, such as a fan, there are general purpose clutches to provide push-button on/off control. Soft start controllers provide smooth clutch engagement that offers several advantages including longer belt life, less jolt, better engine performance during cold weather starts, and reduced stress on other components. For battery powered mowers, the electric motor wheel drives require a parking brake for safety. Ogura offers a wide range of standard and custom parking brake designs for OEM applications focusing on long life, low power consumption, thin profile, various operating voltages, low heat generation, protection from contaminants, sometimes manual release features, along with RoHS and REACH compliance.

Ogura spring applied, power-off, electromagnetic brakes have a long history of use in industrial applications around the world. They are often modified to meet more challenging demands of outdoor power equipment. While used as parking brakes, they are also used as holding and emergency stop brakes on other electrification projects such as actuators and lifts.
